greater alabama air shows

Greater Alabama Air Shows (GALAS) is more than a single event. We are bringing rural communities together through the power of aviation, creating experiences that inspire future generations, celebrate innovation and strengthen connections across Alabama. Whether through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) programs for youth, fly-ins, drive-ins, aviation outreach, or community partnerships, our mission is to spark curiosity, expand opportunities, and showcase the impact aviation can have on future generations.

Inspiring Communities. Creating Opportunities.

Across Alabama, aviation has the power to bring people together, inspire young minds, and connect communities to new possibilities. GALAS creates experiences that introduce students, families, and community members to the excitement of flight while highlighting pathways to education, careers, innovation, and lifelong learning.

By partnering with local airports, schools, businesses, civic organizations, and community leaders, we help create meaningful opportunities that strengthen the communities we serve.

What We Do

GALAS develops aviation-centered experiences that educate, engage, and inspire, including:

  • STEAM education programs for students

  • Community fly-ins and drive-in events

  • Aviation and aerospace outreach initiatives

  • Youth engagement and career exploration opportunities

  • Airport and community partnership programs

  • Family-friendly aviation experiences

  • Regional events that celebrate innovation, technology and flight

Why Aviation?

Aviation is more than transportation. It inspires curiosity, encourages exploration, and introduces young people to careers in science, technology, engineering, advanced manufacturing, skilled trades, aerospace, and aviation.

Through hands-on experiences and community engagement, GALAS helps connect the wonder of flight with real-world opportunities, inspiring the next generation of innovators, problem-solvers, pilots, engineers, technicians, and leaders.
